Crispian Riley-Smith is pleased to invite you to the sixth annual exhibition of Master Drawings at Shepherd-Derom Galleries, hosted with my colleague Margot Gordon.
Some of the exhibition highlights in my collection from the Italian School include a coloured watercolour and gouache by Francesco Zuccarelli of a Landscape; a black chalk drawing by Guercino of Head of Saint Matthew, dateable to 1634, from a priavte collection; a coloured watercolour by Carlo Labruzzi of the Road to Albano. From the Danish School a rare and fine drawing by Heinrich Hansen of Interior of Ribe Cathedral, Denmark. From the French School is a beautiful gouache by Baron Bacler D'Albe of A Capriccio Landscape. From the Britsh School there are two orinthological studies by Peter Paillou of A Shieldrake and an Egyptian Goose, the former was engraved for Pennant's publication on British Zoology, 1766. There is an extraordinary group of 17 drawings and watercolours of animals from Africa by the German animalier Wilhelm Kuhnert.
