The traditional period attribution of these drawings to Pier Leone Ghezzi is most plausible, however the work of Marchionni comes much closer1.

Carlo Marchionni was one of the most important architects of his generation. He won first prize in the Concorso Clementino at the Accademia di San Luca in 1728, and became official architect to Cardinal Albani.

Marchionni collected drawings and paintings, including works by Pier Leone Ghezzi, to whom these drawings were traditionally attributed.
