Condition:

Our drawing has been recently conserved and is drawn on laid paper, there is time staining throughout the sheet, and minor foxing, there are repaired tears, and the ink is in good condition.

A clutch of drawings by this artist are known, and all are quite characteristic and distinctive, such as Fair under Trees, dated to 1700, and measuring 140 x 203 mm, and in the Rijksprentenkabinet (RP-T-1897-A-3331), this is drawn in a comparable medium and technique to our drawing. An extremely large drawing by the artist was on the market in 1981 and was with David Tunick, this drawing measured and an extraordinary 538 x 945 mm, and was signed and dated 1700.

Another very comparable drawing, even with the same watermark, was in the Jacobus A. Klaver collection, and a comparable subject matter.1
