Mariani exhibited as a painter of genre, landscapes, marines and pastels. He was the nephew of Mos Bianchi (1845-1904) on his maternal side. His mother was the daughter of Joshua Bianchi, and her brother was the famous Mos. In 1878 Pompeo secretly takes painting lessons from Eleuterio Pagliano. His Uncle Mos intercedes for him and urges him to work outdoors in the Park of Monza. In 1880 he travels to Egypt and in 1885, he exhibits in Paris and London. In 1893 he exhibited in Chicago, and between 1900 and 1903 takes office in Milan and works on subjects of social life and the town. In 1907 he married the opera singer Marcella Caronni. In 1923 in Milan there is a major exhibition of his paintings from various eras. He died at Bordighera January 25, 1927 and is buried in Monza.
