Harry John Johnson went to Lycia with William Muller, as his pupil, in 1843. This is a typical example of his pencil drawing style. Other examples can be seen in the Witt photo library, and were in the collections of Spink & Sons, Alister Mathews (numerous examples); Sir Bruce Ingram and other collections.

It is typical for his drawings to be inscribed by the artist, as well as his studio stamp.
