280 x 180 mm. (11 x 7 in.)
Verdier is well known for his drawings of religious scenes, normally in black chalk heightened with white on buff paper. This type of drawing by Verdier is on a larger scale than the former drawings, though is nonetheless a characteristic example by the artist, other Christies Paris, 10 April 2008, lot 60. It is possible that our drawing is of the Three Maries at the Foot of the Cross, this would be a characteristic subject matter for Verdier. The chalk is fresh and the drawing is in a good condition.
